Jan Davenport's latest jewelry creation

I just ordered and received another stunning jewelry piece from the creative efforts of Jan Davenport of www.SaddlebredFancies.com. It's a delightful piece that Jan fashioned exclusively for my site. My Initial plans are to place it on sale for my customers that frequent my website.

Seeing it now for real, holding it and imagining it for my own makes it harder for me to consider parting with it. At the moment this stunner by Jan is a unique creation for me and I invite you to see it with a few other selections, available only on www.DressYourHorse.com.

After all, what's not to like. It's made out of adventurine and what I find most striking about it is the soft color. Sure there are other green stones and gems, and they are fabulous in their own right, but this soft-hued dusty green color is so perfect for today's wear. With the addition of the Saddlebred charm as the main focal point of this pretty necklace, the whole look is just so perfect!

I'd like to share a picture of it - see if you don't think this merits a beauty of horses vote - I mean, beauty manifests itself in many ways and this one just happens to be a stunning necklace featuring a horse. Still, it's going to be a tough decision to part with this Saddlebred Adventurine Necklace.  You'll just have to check the website.

Wow, this is pretty!

Mother love - horse and foal

These pictures arrived in my email several weeks ago. They were sent by an email buddy who knows that I'm into horses and who figured, rightfully so, that I would really like them. I do - how could you not like these pictures. This baby knows very well who is Mama and who is looking out for his best interests. Baby feels safe and cozy. I hope you like this pictures as much as I do - sorry, I cannot list photo credits on these and, if anyone knows more about the horses or the photographer, I would surely like to give credit where it is due - I love these!

My favorite picture is number 4 - that's about as cute as it gets!

Heirloom jewelry features equines

I am grateful to live in remarkable times when it’s possible to meet incredibly talented and astounding people. Douglas Bryson is one such person – he is an entrepreneur, an amazing musical talent and a gentleman.

Doug grew up in a small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. At age 4 he already displayed an amazing contralto voice and lots of musical promise. He graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music (now Shenandoah University), and won a series of awards and recognitions, and earned a coveted fellowship to Florida State. Plans for Doug became irreparably foiled when Uncle Sam’s Draft claimed him – plans to pursue a promising career in music were interrupted and ultimately his musical career simply “blew up”.

Doug Bryson during a moment of leisure

Life does go on, and Doug met Karen, the owner/operator of an Arabian Horse Ranch. Their combined talents and interests, his artistic sense and her horse knowledge sparked www.horsejewelrystoreonline.com.

This
website specializes in American-made equine jewelry. Every piece of pure gold and silver jewelry is created to the precise specifications and designs of Doug and Karen, and is then fashioned and produced by professional jewelers. The website caters to horsemen and women who seek heirloom quality jewelry of the equine.

Three stunning gold horses: Cobtail Hackney, Tennessee Walker, and Saddlebred Foal

They are committed to staying with gold and silver equine jewelry, further developing their stunning designs and growing the line. “Our plan is to sell only equine-related items for the horse lover made by American artisans,” says Doug.

It’s been said that two heads are better than one. The combination of their talents has produced this stunning jewelry.

A Million White Horses

Unknown Author

Don`t cry for the horses that life has set free -
A million white horses forever to be.
Don`t cry for the horses now in God`s hands
As they dance and they prance to a heavenly band.

They were ours as a gift but never to keep
As they close their eyes forever to sleep.
Their spirits unbound and on silver wings they fly,
A million white horses against the blue sky.

Look up into heaven you`ll see them above
The horses we lost, the horses we loved.
Manes and tails flowing they gallop through time.
They were never yours, they were never mine.

Don`t cry for the horses, they will be back someday.
When our time has come they will show us the way.
On silver wings they will lift us to the warmth of the sun
When our life is over and eternity has begun.

We will jump the sun and dance over the moon -
A ballet of horse and rider on the winds to a heavenly tune.
Do you hear that soft nicker close to your ear?
Don`t cry for the horses, love the ones that are here!

Don`t cry for the horses, lift up your sad eyes.
Can`t you see them as they fly by?
A million white horses free from hunger and pain -
Their spirits set free until we ride again.

This poem was shared with the Facebook community by John Mordasky after the loss of a beloved mare. It evokes the feelings and beauty of horses in such touching words. Don't you hear that soft nicker?

The Plea of the Wild Horse

by Dianna Wilder

Galloping across the land,
magnificent and bright.
We have to help them
survive this fight!

They built our lands
and plowed our fields,
brought comfort when in need,
now they want to destroy all
with man's cold heart and greed!

Wild horses,
Wild horses,
hear their plea,
stand strong,
fight long-
they are meant to be.

This is America, they fought our wars,
they carried wounded soldiers to their doors.
Wild horses,
Wild horses,
run wild and free,
a gift from God.
You are meant to be!

We owe everything to the horse! How fortunate we are to have wild horses roaming across the countryside. It would be sad, indeed, to destroy the wild horse forever. We must preserve this most beautiful of creatures - They are meant to be! It is up to all of us to preserve this icon of the United States Wild West.

Stunning photography and horses

Facebook has become an important source of entertainment for me -- It feeds my deeply-entrenched love of the horse. I enjoy drooling over the magnificent animals, the foals, and the show photos of my Facebook friends. Truthfully, I spend way too much time looking at pictures and not enough time tending to other things.

But it's baby time. This year's crop of foals is making an appearance, one by one. I'm hooked. I see this one and then see another and I sorely miss my time in the show ring. I reflect on where I have been, the shows I showed, the horses I knew and those I loved - the high times and even some of the sad ones. I love the horses still but I miss the excitement of preparing for shows and the draw of the trophy and the ride in the spotlight.

The sweet youngsters that are making their way into the horse world show so much promise, have presence and spunk and beauty even now, at their baby stage. It'll be exciting to watch them grow up. Fortunately, the folks that own some of my favorites are avid and avowed horse people with breeding programs and futures in the horse industry. Their babies are absolutely astounding! I believe I'll be able to watch their progress and development as time goes on. I'll continue to ogle and drool, enjoy and wish, comment and relish their beauty, but thanks to digital photography and the social networks, I can enjoy these wonderful animals right along with the rest of the world.

To tell the truth, Facebook and my friends' horses provide wholesome entertainment that I crave even more than any movies - since I'm a die-hard horse lover of beauty and class.

This stunning photograph has just the perfect lighting at the right angle to catch forever this delightful portrait of dam and foal as they simply enjoy life.

About the photos and the photographer:  Louise Gilliland is the Owner and Manager of Winsdown Farms (http://www.winsdown.com). I selected these three pictures because the horses are beautiful, the lighting is natural with a mystique that makes the photography "pop" and the excellence of composition. Simply said, I love the richness of the finished photos.

Winsdown produces a unique Saddlebred quality "to compete at the industry's major shows, yet with the trainablity and "fun" factor to be trained at home." The excellent photography is indicative of Louise's artistic expression.

The art and jewelry of Jan Davenport

It was only recently that I discovered the horse lover and artisan, Jan Davenport. We met on FaceBook actually, during a 2 o’clock morning Chat. Instinctively I was drawn to her; I just immediately liked her. We’ve become fans and FaceBook friends.<< MORE >>

Bonded horse buddies

Ever watch horses turned out in a social pastoral setting? They form close bonds with one another. They generally prefer one horse over another. Often they hang together, run together and even share tidbits and feed. They form a hierarchy - a pecking order based on clear preference for one another, and also strength, leadership or even bossiness. Yet they form tight allegences.<< MORE >>

What is better than one little girl loving a horse?

What's better than one little girl loving a horse? Why, it's two girls loving him. These two little girls have to share this miniature horse. But they are passionate about him. They don't mind sharing because this little mini is everything. He is their fairy tale, their creature of fantasies. << MORE >>

I love my miniature horse

There is an unmistakable bond between a child and a horse - it is really evident when the bond is between a little girl and her horse. Lucky is the girl who has her own horse or pony to love!<< MORE >>
